Your child’s first year in college is a big milestone. They are mostly likely going to be on their own for their very first time so it can be both exciting and daunting for them. To make their transition easier, send them to school with a college survival pack that you can lovingly put together yourself.

2. Extra School Supplies

You know how at home you always had that extra cabinet or drawer filled with school supplies so whenever your child lost something or ran of it, you had them covered? Well, at college they won’t have that. They will have to run out and buy supplies themselves for a change. You can help them out though by including extra school supplies like pencils, pens, highlighters, printer paper, loose leaf etc. in the survival pack you are sending.

3. Favorite Snacks & Drinks

Cafeteria food is going to get old fast so make sure to pack your little angel some of his or her favorite snacks and beverages. Your college student will appreciate not having to run to the cafeteria or the store every time he or she is thirsty or hungry.

4. A Reusable Water Bottle

Your child will also love to have a reusable water bottle to take to class or while hanging out around campus to stay properly hydrated.

5. First Aid Supplies

The first time your child gets sick or injured while away from home is going to be hard on both you and them. Make sure they at least have the first aid supplies they need to handle the minor stuff like a reusable ice pack, band aids, Neosporin as well as a thermometer, fever medicine and of course their vitamins.

6. Monogrammed Mug

Who wouldn’t love to have their very own monogrammed mug to enjoy coffee or another favorite beverage in the morning before heading off to class?

7. Ear Plugs

You know how easily ear plugs are lost or misplaced at home so you can only imagine how much it will happened on campus during one semester. Pack an extra set of ear plugs so that your special kiddo can still listen to music or watch a movie on his or her phone or laptop without disturbing dorm mates.

8. Laundry Essentials

If you have always cleaned your kids’ clothes for them, then now is the time before they head to school to teach them laundry basics and to send them to campus with all the laundry essentials like laundry detergent, bleach, fabric softener and a to go stain stick to keep stains at bay. Also don’t forget laundry bags or baskets to carry the laundry back and forth from the laundry room.

9. A Sleeping Mask

When you share a dorm with roommates who have different sleep schedules than you, falling asleep when the lights are still on can be problematic. With a sleeping mask though, he or she won’t have to worry about getting a good night’s sleep.

10. Mini Sewing Kit

This is also the perfect time to teach both your young women and men how to sew. That way if they get a ripped seam in their favorite pants or shirt, they can easily fix them themselves. With a mini sewing kit on hand at the dorm, clothes that might have got thrown out can now be repaired.

11. Mini Manicure Set

This doesn’t necessarily mean nail polish. We all need to take proper care of our nails to keep them healthy. So make sure your college student has plenty of nail files and scissors to keep their nails healthy and strong while they are away at school.

12. Erasable Message Board

All dorm rooms need an erasable message board to hang on the door. It is a great way for your friends to leave a message when they stop by. Also, you and your roommate can leave each other reminders or even just fun messages to make each other smile.

13. Shoe Organizers

Having a couple of shoe organizers on hand at the dorm can be real helpful. Not only can shoes be stored and organized in them, they can also be used to store a lot of other things too. And because they can be hung up, they don’t take up a lot of space in the dorm.
